Hi all,

It has definitely been a while, but I'm back and I have decided that we need another admin to help run this group when I take small leaves of absence. Here's what we're looking for:

Somebody passionate about photography with an eye for detail.
Must be active on deviantART at least 3 times in order to accept submissions to the group, write blog entries, host fun events, etc.
Be friendly and approachable.
Have ideas for contests, chat nights, etc. (Anything to make the group awesome)

Please send the group a note with why you think you should be a group admin along with what you think are your top 3 deviations.

I really want to make this group be active again, and bring it back to where it was back when my best friend (who is no longer on dA) and I started the group about 6 years ago.

Thanks,
Alex

Your founder
Well my complete overhall of the group isn't making as good as I would like it too. It seems like I never have the time. It's not like I forget. I just never have time. College takes a lot from you, time wise. So yeah, I plan on emptying all the folders in the group.
This new year, I (your founder) am going to close down all group submissions and completely overall this group from the admin team to submitting deviations to the group (e.g. # of submissions allowed, etc.) So starting tomorrow, December 25th, 2012, I am going to completely shut down group gallery submissions to prepare for a complete overall.

This closure of the group will last approximately one month, and during this time, I will be posting journal entries about various things like a call for admins (so be sure to check your inbox). I will also be asking for feedback from you (the members) of what you would like to see different.

So please do not disregard journals posted in the group, because they are all important. But more important than the journals are you (the members) and your voice, because without your voice I do not know what to change and what to leave the same.

Thanks,
Alex Short, founder

Comment on this journal entry and tell us who you believe fulfilled the theme the best.
Alright everyone, we have decided to do a theme, here at photographersplace to try and mix things up a little bit, and get some community building going on. So without further a do let's get started.

The theme I would like us to all focus on for the next two weeks is "the fabric of our community." The idea for this theme came from the theme of this year's Kittitas County Fair.

The basis of this theme is too describe the community (town, neighborhood, city, country, etc.) in a single picture. In other words, what is something that everyone should know about your community.

Here are technical details:
Theme starts: Thursday, August 9th, 2012
Theme ends: Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

Only ONE photo may be submitted to the "Themes" folder and the submission must follow the standard submission guidelines for the group.

Thats all the information you need to know. Feel free to ask questions. Happy Shooting!
